Ocean literacy in high schools
Testimonial from GO! technisch atheneum Jette, Belgium
Equally important as our active restoration projects, Go Ocean is pushing boundaries when it comes to ocean awareness. Whether at an individual level or in boardrooms, we aim to facilitate a deeper understanding of the ocean’s role in our world.
We actively bring the ocean forward as a vital topic of conversation — not only as an ecosystem in need of protection, but as a living stakeholder and a fundamental ecological, economic, and societal pillar.
With the launch of our colouring book, we opened up a more creative and accessible way to spread ocean awareness. We were particularly encouraged to see strong interest from the educational sector, where the book is already being used in classrooms, for example, at GO! technisch atheneum Jette (TA Jette).
As a teacher at TA Jette shared:
“What’s really nice about this is that it makes the students feel very calm, and it’s a meaningful way for them to occupy themselves when a lesson finishes early or during study periods. And while they’re all colouring, I have someone read the short pieces of text aloud, which in turn sparks their curiosity about the ocean.”
Stories like these reaffirm our belief that meaningful ocean engagement starts early and that creativity can be a powerful gateway to care and curiosity.

Teaming up with four amazing Belgian organizations
We are teaming up with four other Belgian impact organizations, because you cannot take systemic climate and biodiversity action alone, especially not in the ocean. Real impact only happens through collaboration.

Restoration priorities in the North Sea
The Belgian North Sea hosts over 2,000 species thanks to its rich ecological diversity. However, it faces serious threats, making active restoration essential.
